The Building Process
A lot goes into building a custom home. We want our clients to not only get the home of their dreams, but to get involved and learn along the way. Are you interested in learning about the building process of a custom home? Let us walk you through it, step-by-step!
Step 1: Research and Planning
There are a few key questions you need to answer before embarking on the custom home journey. What is your budget? What is your time frame? Where do you want to build? This is just a starting point. You don’t need to answer every question right away; partnering with a company like Dalamar Homes allows you to be guided through the process. Hiring a design-build team of experts is a major key to success. It streamlines the process and allows for one team to see the vision, plan the design and complete the project.
Step 2: Blueprints and Specifications
By aligning your design team and build team, you can receive valuable input and learn how it can be incorporated into the final project. During this step, you’ll share your ideas and see them come to life in functional concrete ways. You’ll work together with your design-build team to create the blueprints to guide your build. “Bringing a customer’s idea to life using our construction knowledge and expertise is truly one of the most rewarding parts of what we do,” said Matthew Martin, CEO of Dalamar Homes. “We love watching their faces light up when they realize their dream home is actually within reach.”
Step 3: The Build Begins
Every construction process is unique to the home being built. Some lots may need debris removal or a little landscaping. Most will require digging down into the land to provide a solid foundation for the home. Then, materials will be brought in and the construction will begin. Once the house is framed, you can usually walk around to get a feel for the size and layout of each room. Change orders are uncommon during this stage, so make sure to be careful and deliberate during the planning process. Next, internal amenities will be installed. Things like phone lines, plumbing, lighting, heating, and cooling will all be set up during this phase.
Step 4: Finishing Up
After the construction is complete, you’re all set to add your finishing touches. Interior design and furnishing will be the focus of this phase. At this point, your vision will really be brought to life and you’ll be able to imagine what your life will be like in your new custom home.
Step 5: Moving In
You did it! Your vision has been realized: you built your dream home and now you’re all ready to move in.
